Got a stove shaped dream and need some advice? Look no further. Our trusty team at Anevay Stoves have spent years chatting to and advising people all over the world about stove design/type/size, flues, flashing kits, installation systems and maintenance.
We design and build our stoves on site in our workshop in Cornwall, so know them inside out, and our team includes HETAS qualified installers, with job sites that have ranged from canvas bell tents and gigantic tipis, to narrow boats and pods hanging from the trees.
Whatever your question, we're ready for it. And to demonstrate the fact, below are just a few curious enquiries we've had over the years.
Can I use a stove in an inflatable tent?
No - we are usually up for any sort of installation, however when it comes to plastic tubing in tents and the proximity of heat to this, the risks for us are too significant so we would err away from this sort of installation.
But let's not forget our stoves are incredibly popular for standard canvas tents. In fact Anevay stoves are used by dozens of glamping and camping businesses throughout the UK - including seasonal set-ups by YHA nationwide. We've got special flashing kits, flues and bundles for tipis, yurts, bell tents and domes. Check out our stoves for tents, tipis & yurts collection
Do I need a shepherd's hut to install a Shepherd™Stove?
No - thank goodness :) Whilst our trusty little 1.7kw Shepherd™ Stove has been installed in numerous shepherd huts it's been used for loads of other scenarios. It's the favoured choice of many campervan conversion companies, whilst also working brilliantly in caravans, pods and garden studios.
Do you cater for narrow boats with multi fuel stoves?
Yes! Our Fintan™ Stove is multi-fuel and we have had many of our stoves installed in boats/narrow boats. With proper marine installation and secure fixing they're an excellent way to keep warm whilst waterborne. Drop us a line for more information or to chat your project through.
Have you installed a stove for anyone famous?
Quite a few actually. But most recently we installed a Traveller™ Stove in a tipi for Billy Ray Cyrus - picture below.

Where's the furthest you've sent a stove?
We've sent stoves right the way around the world, from our workshop in Cornwall to Europe, Australia, China and South America, even Kenya!
What sort of modifications can you do?
A fair few. We've recently had a customer who wanted the door on the Shepherd™ Stove to open left to right instead of right to left - no problem. Interesting colour? Let’s talk! If you've got something particular in mind give us a call and we can chat it through.
Where are your stoves made?
We make them right here in our workshop in Cornwall. We design, refine, create prototypes, safety check and build them ourselves. You won't find anything quite like them anywhere else.
Will the stove get hot?
Yes, or at least that's the idea and one of the key indicators of functionality and efficiency. In fact we use cold rolled steel specifically because it heats up faster than cast iron and radiates that heat beautifully.
Can I cook on my stove?
Most definitely. All of our small stoves have enough space for a kettle or pan to sit on top, plus our designs feature a hinged lid that you can lift to cook directly on the flames. We love cooking on ours or getting a brew ready, as do many of our customers. You can find some rather tasty stove top recipes on the blog.
How do I know what size stove I need?
It's important to get the right size stove for your space, not just in physical measurements but also, and perhaps more importantly, heat output. There's nothing worse than being cold due to an inadequate output or sweating in your pants because your stove's too big or powerful. All of our stoves have their output listed under 'technical spec' and you can use our Heat Output Calculator to find out what size is right for you.
Can I come and meet the team?
Yes, most definitely. Drop us a line, we'd love to see you - we'll get the kettle on, give you a guided tour and show you our full range of stoves.
If I buy one do I get updates whilst it's being made?
Yes, we love doing this. We can send you some pictures of it being welded, finished and packed by our team here in Cornwall. Once it's been dispatched you'll get full tracking from the carrier and if you want to stay in touch once it's been delivered we'd love that too - we're here and happy to help with advice on installs, general maintenance and chinwags.
Can I install the stove myself?
You can, but we'd recommend an approved installer for insurance purposes. At Anevay we have HETAS trained team members who travel far and wide installing our stoves, plus we have recommended and approved installers in the UK and on the continent, so please get in touch if this is something you'd be interested in. Alternatively we offer online and step-by-step instructions for anyone who is looking to self-install.
How do I reload the stoves with fuel?
Our stoves have two methods of refueling - top plate and front door. You can use either, but we'd always recommend loading by the top - so long as you're not in the middle of cooking on it, it's the easiest and safest method.
What can I burn in my stove?
Treated or painted wood, plywood, chipboard, plastic? A firm no. Why? They release toxins from chemicals.
Wet wood or green wood? No. Why? It's inefficient and leads to incomplete combustion which creates much more creosote and soot which will block your chimney.
Newspaper or cardboard? No. Why? They create extra smoke and toxins that stick to your liner and chimney.
Coal? Depends. Why? Only burn coal if you've got a multi-fuel stove, such as our Fintan™ Stove. Coal burns hotter than wood and if your stove doesn't have sufficient airflow and raised grate this can cause damage.
We'd recommend kiln dried wood with less than 20% moisture content. And anything that is Woodsure Ready - such as our fuel packs and kindling packs.
Check out our blog on fuel here.
What sort of warranty comes with the stove?
With Anevay our warranty is different, you're not just purchasing a stove you're joining the family. Although officially we offer a 1 year guarantee on all of our stoves, unofficially we will always consider any issues you are having with your product after this period of time, often at no cost to the customer, and will action any changes that need making at our cost. This is the confidence we hold in our products and we trust that this will instill you with the same.
Can I refurb the stove?
You certainly can - in fact everything benefits from a bit of TLC and our stoves are no exception, in fact they'll pay you back two-fold. You've got two options - the first is to book us in to do it for you; the second is to purchase a stove refurb kit from us and do it yourself - you can give us a call and we'll chat the process through with you.
